I am delighted to tell you that we have been successful in securing funding from the Big Lottery to create the Becket Community Garden.
Now is the time to begin planning, planting and sowing so I would like to invite anyone who is interested in joining in to come along to an informal get together at school. This can be parents, grandparents, neighbours or just local folks who might be interested in a community garden.
If you have an interest or experience or even any tools that you don’t need any more then please get in touch with Ms Flewitt who can be reached on the school’s phone number.
We have 6 raised beds next to the bungalow on the field and have recently had a 6m x 4m poly-tunnel installed. The poly-tunnel has 3 potting tables in it but nothing else at the moment!
Please don’t think that you would be required to be digging all the time and doing heavy work. Sometimes a cuppa over a little bit of seed sowing or watering is all you might want to do.
Of course the children will also be involved in growing as part of their curriculum and extra curricula activities and hopefully we can inspire the next Monty Don or Carol Klein!
Please come along for a chat and to see how you might be able to be involved. You don’t have to have a child in the school to come and join us!
